Our Classes are offered either as a two day getaway workshop or as a one-day class on the farm.
Whichever class you decide on; a two day workshop or a one day class, the experience you receive from the instructions will allow you to continue the skill you learned at the farm, back home.

Classes are held at the farm to incorporate learning about the animals in addition to exploring the art of skilled colonial crafts.

Skilled Craft Packages make wonderful gifts. Gift certificates available.

One Day Classes
Please call early to reserve your seat and - Bring a friend!
Overnight stays are not required for one day classes.
Felting - In this class, the students get to experiment with a variety of fibers! Learn the history and fundamentals of the felting process. The class offers beginner instruction in felting.

* We offer one day skilled craft classes on the farm.

We keep class sizes small (limited to 12 people) which means our classes fill up quick! Therefore you must pay in full for the class at the time of registration. Fees and class dates are listed below.

Cheese - This fun, interesting basic class teaches you to make delicious feta and chevre. These are so simple that you can go home and make them that very night.
Soap - This class teaches the basics of soap making with a simple recipe and demonstrates how to make an all-natural soap bar. Everything you need to learn to get you started to make your own soaps.
Spinning - The class will begin with basic skills of spinning wool with a spindle to produce a single ply yarn. Other skills taught will be plying, carding, skeining and preparing your yarn for knitting or future projects.

Bread & Cheese
Making

In our individualised 2 day workshop, you will learn from Virginia's best bread and cheese makers, how to make bread and cheese from scratch. The day will be spent learning and doing, with each person bringing home with them what they prepared.

A full evening meal will be served on your first night's arrival. You will awake the following morning to a full country breakfast to keep you going until the light afternoon lunch and a full evening meal will be served as well. On your last morning, a full country breakfast will greet you and nourish you for the ride home.

When not cooking or eating; enjoy strolling around the farm, sitting on our porch in lounge chairs and rockers, or watching the many farm animals. So grab your friends and come down to the farm for some fun-filled time away.

PACKAGE INCLUDES:
* Minimum 2 nights stay, double occupancy
* All applicable meals during your stay
* All cooking supplies to use while here
* Cheese and bread that you take home
* Lots of FUN!

RESTRICTIONS: Minimum 2 people, Maximum 6

Soap & Potpourri
Making

Year Round

In our workshop classes, you will learn from one of Virginia's best soap and potpourri makers how to make soap and potpourri from scratch. The day will be spent learning and doing with each person bringing home with them what they made.

Spinning Basics

All year round!



In our workshop classes, you will learn from one of Virginia's fine wool producers and spinners how to spin wool from washed fleece. The day will be spent learning and doing, with each person bringing home a finished skein of wool. You will be able to spin on two different types of wheel models.

What will be taught through one-on-one instruction:
* Wool carding and prepping for spinning
* Spinning techniques and styles
* Plying and skeining
* What to look for in a wheel - "Test driving a spinning wheel"

A full evening meal will be served on your first night's arrival. You will awake the following morning to a full country breakfast to keep you going until the light afternoon lunch and a full evening meal will be served as well. On your last morning, a full country breakfast will greet you and nourish you for the ride home.

When not learning the art of spinning, enjoy strolling around the farm, sitting on our porch in lounge chairs and rockers, or watching the many farm animals. So grab your friends and come down to the farm for some fun-filled time.
