| What
homestead should be without these relentless "bug-busters" of the avian
world? Commonly known as Guinea Hens or Guinea Fowl, Guineas out perform chickens
as an effective means of tick control, including many insects. A flock of free
range Guineas will cover a generous area of a large farm, and all or most of smaller
tracts of land. We don't recommend having these noisy trespassing birds if you
have close neighbors who are likely to have "issues" with your birds
and you. We offer the Pearl and the
Lavender variety, both of which are very hardy and excellent layers. Use caution
when letting hens hatch their keets; damp grass from the morning dew will chill
the keets. Another hazard are the mature cocks which often peck and kill newly
hatched keets. If such problems occur, collect the keets and brood indoors. CornerStone
Farm is not a commercial hatchery. We hatch quality over quantity. This practice
gives our customers select young and mature stock. We do not ship day old birds,
however, birds less than 5 weeks to day old can be picked up at the farm.
